Dirk van Duijvenbode’s series of bankruptcies continues. The Dutchman is also thrown out of the Darts World Cup in the first game. A colleague from Portugal is not faring any better in London.

The Dutch darts professional Dirk van Duijvenbode took part in the World Cup London suffered the next setback and was eliminated early. The Eggplant King, as van Duijvenbode is called, lost 3-1 to Croatian Boris Krcmar.

The 31-year-old Dutchman, who works on an eggplant farm in addition to his appearances on the professional tour, has had difficult months in terms of sport and is struggling with a shoulder injury. The unseeded Krcmar is Scottish veteran Gary Anderson’s next opponent after the holidays.

Portugal’s José de Sousa, like van Duijvenbode, said goodbye after his first game. He lost 1:3 against the Swedish outsider Jeffrey de Graaf. German players were not represented in the afternoon session.
