Darmanin asks prefects to anticipate the risks of urban violence

Halloween evening is conducive to urban violence, particularly car fires. To best anticipate possible outbreaks this Tuesday evening, Gerald Darmanin asked Monday, in a note to the prefects, for “high vigilance”. The Minister of the Interior invites them to also take into account this year “the terrorist threat facing France” and the “international context”.

He wants prefects to be able to “anticipate and best assess the risks likely to arise (…) using, in particular, close monitoring of social networks”. The minister also asks them to pay “particular vigilance to the security of public transport” and to take “the necessary measures” in terms of administrative policing, for example by regulating the transport of fuel and fireworks mortars.

The Interior Minister issued a similar telegram on Halloween last year.
