Just a few days ago he was appointed King of Denmark: Now Frederik X is surprising with a book about his career from young crown prince to monarch.

Just a few days after the change of throne, the new Danish king Frederik X. unexpectedly published a book. The Danish royal family announced this on their Instagram channel. There is also a quote from the book: “I am the person I am. I will try to show that as King of Denmark.”

The book is entitled “Kongeord”. Literally translated it means “king’s word”, but the king means his motto, according to the Instagram post. As the publisher Politikens Forlag announced, King Frederik X tells in the book about the considerations that underlie his motto. The king announced this for the first time from the balcony of Christiansborg Palace after the change of throne on Sunday: “Bonded, committed, for the Kingdom of Denmark.”

The book is, among other things, about the history of Denmark and the life of the king “from a young, reluctant crown prince to a mature man, family man and monarch,” the publisher writes in a Facebook post. The author Jens Andersen wrote down Frederik X’s thoughts.

Frederik’s mother, Queen Margrethe II, announced her abdication on New Year’s Eve after 52 years on the throne and signed a corresponding declaration on Sunday. Her eldest son Frederik (55) became the new head of state of Denmark at the moment of signing.
