Dakota Johnson’s new superhero film “Madame Web” was unsuccessful at the box office. Now the leading actress speaks out about the flop in an interview and finds clear words.

Dakota Johnson’s (34) new superhero film “Madame Web” was neither well received at the box office nor with critics and was even described by some as the “worst superhero film of all time”. But also Johnson himself is now apparently critical of the film. In an interview, the 34-year-old finds clear words about the failure for the first time.

“I’ll probably never do something like that again”

“Making the film was definitely an experience for me,” says the leading actress in an interview with “Bustle”. “I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ll probably never do anything like this again because I just don’t make any sense in this world. And I know that now.”

Sometimes in the film industry you get involved in something and then the project develops in a different direction, says Johnson had already hinted at during the PR tour for the film, that the script changed drastically over the course of production. In an interview with “Bustle” she finds even clearer words: “Of course it’s not nice to be part of something that is torn to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand it.”

Dakota Johnson understands “Madame Web” flop

It is “so difficult” to produce films. “And in these big films, decisions are made by committee,” explains the actress. “And art is no good when it’s made by committee,” she adds. “Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around him. You can’t make art based on numbers and algorithms.”

“Madame Web” opened in theaters on February 14th and only grossed around $40 million in the USA and around $50 million outside of North America in the first three weeks. On the collection site Rotten Tomatoes Only twelve percent of the critics’ reviews were positive. (ncz/spot)
