The Greens have apparently fallen victim to hackers several times in the past few weeks. Everything indicates that the attacks came from the same attacker, it is said.

The Greens have been attacked by hackers several times in recent weeks.

As a result, access to the “Green Network”, an internal platform of the party, has only been available to a limited extent since June 13, said a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency and confirmed a corresponding report by “Spiegel”.

According to information from the news magazine, the previously unknown attackers also succeeded in penetrating the party e-mail accounts of the Green Party chairmen Ricarda Lang and Omid Nouripour and in some cases forwarding e-mails to external servers. Over what period of time and to what extent this happened is apparently still unclear.

There had already been an attack on the party’s IT system on May 30, after which the party filed a complaint. “Everything indicates that both events come from the same attacker. We immediately informed all the necessary security authorities and the state data protection officer,” said the spokeswoman.

The party receives support from the Federal Office for Security and Information Technology (BSI), among others, to clarify the matter. A forensic investigation is also ongoing.
