As became known this week, data from the official school administration was encrypted by malware in a hacker attack on the media center belonging to the district office in Munich-Land. As a result, 55 schools in the district of Munich and 20 in the Berchtesgadener Land can no longer access addresses, curricula and timetables. IT security expert Wolfgang Hommel from the Bundeswehr University in Neubiberg was not surprised by the incident. At the “Cyberdefence and Smart Data” institute, the scientist is researching, among other things, a program for organization-wide security management that is to be used to secure critical infrastructures.
