He just showed up in the foyer and then ate from the potted plants: In Anchorage, Alaska, a moose suddenly found itself in the hospital. The visit went off lightly for the animal.

A young moose has made a surprise visit to a hospital in the US state of Alaska. Videos and photos that have surfaced the internet show the animal wandering around the lobby of the hospital in the city of Anchorage, apparently puzzled. The young moose enjoyed the potted plants in the foyer of the hospital, as the newspaper “Anchorage Daily News” reported on its website on Friday.

“We got a call from one of our dispatchers that a moose had entered the building and was eating our plants in the lobby,” the hospital’s chief of security, Randy Hughes, told the newspaper. Had it been an adult or an aggressive animal, Hughes said he would have called the wildlife department. But security and staff eventually managed to safely guide the moose to a door and out of the building, video showed. Patients and onlookers, who were reportedly holed up behind wheelchairs, cheered when the animal found its way out.

All the excitement had apparently taken the moose with it. Back in the fresh air, the wild animal lay down in the snow and took a nap, Hughes told the newspaper.
