Curfew for minors, ban on fireworks and alcohol for New Year

On New Year’s Eve, Bas-Rhin and Alsace are too often synonymous with drama with firecrackers and other mortars, but also with incivility and violent excesses. Also, the prefecture has decided to tighten the screw.

The prefect of Bas-Rhin Josiane Chevalier has issued orders valid from this Monday midnight until next Wednesday January 3 at 8 a.m. for the entire department, prohibiting the purchase, sale, and use of “fireworks and pyrotechnic articles of categories C2, F2, C3, F3, C4, F4, P2 and T2”.

The distribution, purchase and takeaway sale of fuel in any transportable container is also prohibited from midnight on Friday, December 29, until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3. But also the sale and consumption of alcohol on public roads, from Sunday December 31, 2023 at noon, until Monday January 1 at noon.

Even more restrictive in certain municipalities

Other complementary measures will be taken in the following municipalities,
namely Strasbourg, Hœnheim, Bischheim, Schiltigheim, Illkirch-Graffenstaden, Lingolsheim and Ostwald, in which all categories of “fireworks and pyrotechnic articles” are prohibited. With, the icing on the cake, the establishment, as in previous years, of a curfew for minors under 16 years of age unaccompanied by one of their parents or a representative of parental authority, from December 31, 10 p.m. to January 1, 6 a.m.
