Sometimes pizza is the only real solution. When there is no time to prepare and we really need to do it quickly, we reach for the cup pizza – and satisfy spontaneous cravings at record speed. The recipe.

Pizza – everyone knows it, everyone loves it. It is the epitome of Italian cuisine and is one of the most popular dishes worldwide. The first pizza, topped with tomato sauce and prepared as we know it today, was probably created in Naples around 1520. The dish is now so popular that the art of Neapolitan pizza-making is officially recognized as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Pizza world champion

How do you prefer to eat it? To go, to take away, straight from your hand. Every second, 951 pizzas are eaten worldwide – that’s 30 billion slices every year, mainly thanks to the enormously high pizza consumption in the USA. While the Italians contribute five kilograms of pizza per person per year, each American eats 13 kilograms per year. The traditional Italian version with a wafer-thin base, baked in a stone oven and spread with garlic oil and the finest tomato sauce has very little in common with today’s American-modern, thick-based version with a cheese crust and minced meat topping. It doesn’t matter, because both versions show how versatile pizza can be – after all, each tastes incredibly good in its own way.

Blitz pizza: fluffy dough in just a few minutes

Our cup pizza is also versatile. However, it doesn’t claim to be a match for Italian pizza, but it is perfect for spontaneous pizza cravings and scores with a wonderfully fluffy dough. Another bonus: The Blitz pizza comes together in just a few minutes and is baked in the microwave in just a minute. There is no need to spend hours letting the pizza dough rise and roll out the dough, the kitchen stays clean and your cravings are satisfied in just a few minutes. It doesn’t get any better, does it?

The basic recipe for the lightning pizza dough consists of just five ingredients that can usually be found in every kitchen. A quick dough is mixed together from flour, baking powder, a pinch of salt, milk and olive oil. What shouldn’t be missing on a pizza? The tomato sauce. The quick version is made from pureed tomatoes, garlic, oregano and a touch of pepper. Alternatively, you can use a ready-made pizza sauce or make your own in advance. The rest of the preparation is self-explanatory: cheese and toppings of your choice complete the magnificent specimen and the lightning pizza goes into the microwave. Baked on the highest setting for a minute and voilà – the mug pizza is steaming in front of you. How that smells!

Multifaceted pizza fun

You can use almost anything your heart desires as a topping. Toppings such as corn, olive slices or capers work particularly well. Meat lovers go for mini pepperoni, exotics for pineapple slices. Vegetable toppings such as sliced mushrooms, peppers or fresh tomatoes are also suitable as exciting pizza toppings and bring great nuances to the enjoyment of cup pizzas. Let your creativity run wild and discover your favorite variant. Bon appetit.
