Around 130 investigators from the Cologne public prosecutor’s office have been searching the Frankfurt offices of the French bank BNP Paribas since Tuesday. The institute confirmed this on Wednesday. The Cologne public prosecutor said the raid was connected to the illegal cum-ex stock deals and related tax evasion models. According to the public prosecutor, the investigations are directed against 58 suspects, including former and current employees of the bank. “Against this background, residential addresses of suspects in Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate are also being searched,” the authority wrote in a statement. The bank is cooperating with the authorities, who have been investigating since 2017, said a spokeswoman for the institute. First, the “Handelsblatt” reported on the searches.
