Of the many highly controversial measures that have become government policy under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, those on culture certainly do not rank high in public perception. But for everyone who cares about the cultural infrastructure in England, 13 years of Tory politics have been nothing more than a series of brutal rounds of austerity, implemented by culture ministers whose attitude towards their department ranges between ignorance and open dislike for what is seen as left-wing and elitist perceived cultural scene changed.
