CSU presents a list of necessary purchases – Bavaria

In the debate about the upgrade of the Bundeswehr, the CSU presented a list of what they believed to be the first purchases to be made. “Priority projects are replenishment of ammunition stocks, arming of drones, further development of the Euro Fightersthe procurement of the tactical air defense system (TLVS) and a comprehensive strengthening of the helicopter sector,” says a three-page position paper that is to be adopted by the CSU executive board on Monday. The paper, entitled “Resolution on the war in Ukraine”, was published sent to the members of the Executive Board on Sunday and is available to the German Press Agency in Munich.

It also says: “In addition, the land forces must be strengthened by ground-based air and drone defense, new battle tanks and armored personnel carriers and a comprehensive digitization offensive, and the reservists must be better equipped.” The changed security situation in Europe requires the Bundeswehr to focus more on national and alliance defense. “We clearly support the fulfillment of the NATO 2 percent target. We expect comprehensive and long-term investments in the Bundeswehr and are prepared to follow the proposed path of a special purpose fund,” emphasized the CSU.

The federal government recently announced that it wanted to invest 100 billion euros in the Bundeswehr. So far, however, it is still unclear what and when the money from the special fund is to be spent.
