CSU: How Söder’s “paragraph striker” got involved with Alfred Sauter – Bavaria

In April, stricter rules for members of parliament came into force in Bavaria. Walter Nussel, who was responsible for reducing bureaucracy under Söder, withdrew from a joint venture with the former CSU string puller Alfred Sauter. An accident?

Not everyone will have noticed, but at the end of June the new Bavarian regulatory control council started its work – and with it the man who heads the control council: Walter Nussel. Put simply, the CSU member of the state parliament from the constituency of Erlangen-Höchstadt is supposed to debureaucratize Bavaria. There are simply too many rules that tame people, says Prime Minister and CSU party leader Markus Söder. He thinks: “The Liberalitas Bavariae”, the famous Bavarian freedom of movement, must “find itself stronger again”. Hence this control council, “quasi like a bureaucratic TÜV”.
