Cruise: Why a captain sets off without passengers who return late to the ship

Eight passengers from the “Norwegian Dawn” were stranded in the African island state of São Tomé and Príncipe. They traveled behind the cruise ship on their own and were only able to get back on board after six days – in Senegal, 3,000 kilometers away. What we can learn from the case.

Even those who are not inclined to empathy have to feel for them – the eight passengers who missed their cruise ship “Norwegian Dawn” in the African island state of São Tomé and Príncipe on March 27 because they returned too late from an excursion. Among those stranded: senior citizens, a pregnant woman, a heart patient, a paraplegic person in a wheelchair. And one wonders why the shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line simply left these people behind who were carrying little more than their clothes? Most of them without money, some without their medication, but with even more fears.
