Crisis in local journalism using the example of the Nürnberger Nachrichten – Medien

Nowhere is journalism as close to the people as in the local area. Local journalists are those who are on site, in the villages, communities and town halls. Without them, many people would not know what is happening on their own doorstep. But despite all its relevance, local journalism is in a deep crisis. Because many publishers don’t have the money to go digital because it has become harder to get people to spend money on a printed newspaper. Circulations are falling, advertising revenue is falling, logistics and paper costs are rising, and inflation is doing the rest.
