The Stachus is one of the most famous places in Bavaria – and on weekends it is often the scene of arguments and brawls. On Sunday morning, an argument ends fatally.

In Munich, a man was stabbed during a dispute in the city center. The identity of the dead has not yet been clarified, said a police spokesman on Sunday morning. “Homicide investigating.”

According to initial investigations, the man got into an argument with the perpetrator around six in the morning. During the altercation, the man was stabbed. The background of the fact was initially completely unclear.

The victim is said to be a young man from Africa. According to initial findings, the police do not assume a racist motive.

The Stachus is also lively at night and early in the morning on weekends, as partygoers and night owls gather there. The police are also repeatedly called to arguments and fights.

Rescue attempt was in vain

The scene of the crime was the sidewalk in front of a row of shops in the vicinity of the Stachus, in the immediate vicinity of a tram stop. The man was initially alive and was taken to a hospital. However, the rescue attempts were in vain. The police cordoned off the crime scene immediately, and forensics meticulously searched the sidewalk in the hours after the crime. The murder weapon was missing, so it was also unclear whether the man had been stabbed with a knife.

The police are not only looking for the perpetrator, but also for possible other participants and witnesses. “According to current knowledge, several people related to the crime could be volatile,” said the spokesman. The investigators assume, however, that it was not a dispute between two groups.
