When Cologne is on the trigger, the ingredients are clear: the inspectors are fully involved, the Rhine is as beautiful as possible. And in the end it’s about higher justice, the Cologne native had a relevance problem crime scene never. So Daniel Huberty (Stephan Kampwirth) takes control of a pleasure boat on the beautiful Rhine. Police work plays a rather subordinate role in this psychodrama
Now Huberty has the power, now the idiots have to listen to him. The bomb is ticking. “Is he crazy, is he a clown?” asks Inspector Freddy Schenk (Dietmar Bär). His colleague Max Ballauf (Klaus J. Behrendt) goes where it really hurts, whereupon Schenk suffers like an animal. The film by Marcus Weiler based on the screenplay by Eva Zahn and Volker A. Zahn is exciting to the end, psychodrama and crime thriller are balanced, the protagonist plays his role of the offended narcissist incredibly well, the inspectors are more present than in the last case. As a spectator, you are briefly distracted because the police work is so subordinate to the dramaturgy that it seems amateurish. A poor sausage hijacks a ship on the clear Rhine and nobody can stop her? The police really use a traumatized person as a decoy? Small deductions in the B grade, otherwise: great as always.
