Two elementary school students are attacked with a knife in Duisburg. Now new details are coming to light.

The knife attacker from According to the investigation, Duisburg was stopped and disarmed by his own father. The 69-year-old held his son until the police arrived, according to dpa information on the current status of the investigation.

The 21-year-old suspect was visiting his father and then attacked the two children. First he stabbed a nine-year-old girl and then the ten-year-old boy. A passer-by shouted at the knife attacker and threw a flashlight at him to get him away from the children.

The attacker then attacked this witness. Then the father of the alleged perpetrator arrived and was able to stop the dramatic event. The injured children ran back to the elementary school.

Before the arrest, the son is said to have told his father that there was information on his cell phone that would explain the crime. The 21-year-old is scheduled to appear before a judge this Thursday on charges of attempted murder.

There is no evidence of a politically motivated act. The police and public prosecutor’s office did not want to officially comment on the case until later in the day.

The two victims were out of danger, a police spokesman said on Thursday night. The crime occurred on Wednesday around 12 p.m. in the middle of a street in a residential area in the Marxloh district of Duisburg. According to the police, the two children were able to escape to a Catholic elementary school two blocks away after the attack. A teacher came to help them there. According to investigators, the person arrested is a German-Bulgarian.
