Cats whining can be heard from the trunk of a coach: Federal police have stopped an illegal animal transport with kittens. The owner can now expect more than just an advertisement.

There is an illegal animal transport with 18 kittens Federal police stopped on Autobahn 6 near Waidhaus in Bavaria. While checking a coach, the officers heard loud whining cats coming from the trunk, the police said. There they discovered the young animals, which were crammed into six transport boxes.

The 37-year-old owner of the cats said he was transporting them to Paris for an acquaintance. The man wanted to enter Germany from the Czech Republic on Thursday evening. According to police, he presented fake vaccination certificates for the animals.

In addition, the import of young animals is prohibited under the Animal Health Act, it said. That’s why the twelve-week-old kittens were ordered to be seized. They were handed over to an animal shelter. The owner now faces charges of fraud and violation of the Animal Health Act.
