A forced eviction is getting out of hand. The resident, a former soldier, doesn’t want to leave his house and threatens to set it on fire. After tough negotiations, the breakthrough was achieved.

The man in Unterkirnach in Baden-Württemberg as part of a planned forced eviction for an hour-long period A major police operation was carried out and is currently under medical care. A police spokesman could not say on Wednesday morning whether the 62-year-old was in hospital.

The ex-soldier had threatened to set his house on fire the day before when a bailiff accompanied by police officers appeared there. After it became clear that the man could be dangerous, the police launched a major operation and negotiated with the man for around twelve hours. He gave up on Tuesday evening and allowed himself to be arrested without resistance.

The police spokesman said the house was sealed for the night after initial searches. In the morning, experts from the State Criminal Police Office wanted to go back into the building to secure further clues. It is not yet known whether anything has been found so far – such as weapons or explosives.

According to previous findings, the man had several long guns and handguns registered to him, and he also had an explosives permit and was a member of a shooting club. Nothing is yet known about the man’s motive. It is also unclear whether he has already been questioned or may be taken into custody.
