Dismembered wolf carcass thrown into canal
Parts of a wolf carcass were found near Hanover. Unknown people killed the animal, dismembered it and threw it in a canal. It wasn’t the first case of this kind.
A day later, another blue sack floated in the same place in the Mittelland Canal. Inside the sack was the severed head of the wolf. The remains were sent to Berlin for further examination. Experts should now analyze what caused the wolf to die. The body had bullet holes. An investigation into violation of the Federal Species Protection Act has been initiated.
A severed wolf’s head and a dead wolf without a head were only found in the Gifhorn district at the end of March and April. Whether there is a connection with the find in Sehnde will be checked in the course of the investigation, said the police spokesman.
