A 38-year-old is hit by shots in the middle of Bielefeld – and dies. Investigators continue to search for the perpetrator or perpetrators.

After the fatal shots in the pedestrian zone of The search for the perpetrator or perpetrators continues in Bielefeld. Bielefeld police said the murder squad was working on numerous clues.

The shots were fired on Saturday evening in the middle of Bielefeld’s pedestrian zone. The victim is the former boxing professional Besar Nimani, as a police spokesman confirmed when asked at midday. The 38-year-old from Bielefeld had Kosovar citizenship.

According to police investigations, the man parked his car near the crime scene on Saturday. Then Nimani had walked towards a shop. He was then shot at while he was still on the street, according to a joint statement from the police and public prosecutor’s office. According to the autopsy results, the 38-year-old died from numerous gunshot wounds. “The main injuries were to the chest area,” investigators said.

According to police, one person was initially arrested late on Saturday evening after a witness statement suggested possible involvement in the crime. However, the suspicion was not confirmed. The person was released.
