Ten months after the violent death of two police officers during a traffic stop, the judges handed down a life sentence for the main suspect. But he doesn’t want to accept that.

In response to the verdict in the Kusel police murder case, the main defendant’s defense has appealed. This was announced by the spokeswoman for the district court of Kaiserslautern on Thursday at the request of the German Press Agency. The revision as an appeal against the court decision was received on Wednesday evening.

A 39-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for two counts of murder on Wednesday. The district court also determined the particular gravity of the guilt. A release of the German after 15 years in prison is therefore ruled out.

The court saw it as proven that the man killed a 24-year-old police officer and a police commissioner (29) with headshots at the end of January. With the murders he wanted to cover up commercial poaching, said the reasoning. The bloody deed during a vehicle check on a remote district road in the western Palatinate had caused horror throughout Germany.
