A 50-year-old has to answer in court for having smothered one of his sons and buried them in a forest ten years ago. He is in custody.

The trial against a 50-year-old man who is said to have smothered his little son and then buried him in a forest began at the district court in Schwerin on Tuesday. The crime, however, dates back ten years. She remained undiscovered for a long time because the family left Germany immediately after the crime.

As the brief indictment shows, the younger of two sons stood in the way of the then-Schwerin family’s plans to emigrate to Spain. The father found the then two-year-old child increasingly “exhausting and annoying”.

At the beginning of the trial, the native of Hamburg, who was accused of murder, informed his lawyers that he did not want to comment on the crime or his current personal circumstances. According to earlier reports, he admitted to killing the child in November 2022 after being confronted with the allegation. Since then he has been in custody in Bützow (Rostock district). The process is scheduled for 14 more days until September.
