In mid-April, the body of a young boy was found in a suitcase in a forest in the US state of Indiana. Now the police announced the cause of death: The child died of electrolyte deficiency, caused by excessive vomiting and diarrhea due to gastroenteritis. A mushroom picker had discovered the suitcase in a wooded area. Investigators estimate the boy’s age at five years. There are no signs of injury and the boy was neatly dressed. So far it is also unclear where the child died. The boy’s identity has not yet been established. The police meanwhile also searched the US database for missing children, but there were no hits. The investigators are now hoping for information from the population in order to clarify the mysterious case.
