Kate Middleton is suffering from cancer. Despite the bankruptcy of their company, Kate’s parents have long since earned royal titles, explains an expert.

Bucklebury – None Princess Kates (42) Parents Carole Middleton (69) and Mike Middleton (74) in the background, things in the British royal family would not be nearly as smooth as they are despite the Princess of Wales and King Charles (75) having cancer. Royal journalist and expert on the British royal family Richard Eden (68) believes that they have at least long since earned the title of Count and Countess.

The Middletons not only support their daughter, but are there for William and the children

The Princess of Wales in particular would have been happy to have her mother Carole and father Mike by her side at Anmer Hall, her retreat and property on the Sandringham Estate, as Eden claims to have heard. After her cancer diagnosis was announced via video (March 22), the princess withdrew to recover during “preventative” chemotherapy. During school, the three children are in Lambrook in Berkshire, 15 minutes from Adelaide Cottage, Wales’ family home in Windsor, and just half an hour’s drive from Bucklebury, where the Middletons live.

The grandparents are not only beloved confidants for Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5), they are invaluable to Kate in this predicament and also to Prince William, the helpers whose support he can accept, to continue fulfilling his royal duties as heir to the throne – while his father also battles illness. Carole has long since taken on a mother role for Prince William, explains Eden.

“Party Pieces”: a success story without a happy ending

In 1987, former flight attendant Carole Middleton, née Goldsmith, founded the company “Party Pieces”. The business of shipping party supplies quickly proved to be extremely lucrative, prompting Michael Middleton to quit his job at British Airways and join the family business. In 2019, the Middletons converted their company into a limited liability company. This meant they were spared personal liability when “Party Pieces” had to file for bankruptcy in spring 2023 after three years of the corona pandemic. At this point, debts of 2.6 million pounds (around 3 million euros) had accumulated.

Carole Middleton became a mother figure to Prince William from an early age

Back in January, when nothing was known about Kate’s illness and everyone was wondering what the “major abdominal operation” was all about, there were rumors that Carole had helped run the school while the princess was recovering. It was also no coincidence that the two women were caught traveling together in the car by paparazzi. And not even the bankruptcy of their once-thriving company “Party Pieces” has done anything to damage the Middletons’ good reputation.

There is no need to worry about the Middletons, said royal author Christopher Andersen (74) in an interview Us Weekly. “People shouldn’t make the mistake of assuming the Middletons are bankrupt, because they definitely aren’t. Their company went bankrupt due to things completely beyond their control, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have significant personal assets.”

It is clear, says Eden, that Catherine’s parents are just as important to the future of the monarchy as the Windsors themselves. In his opinion, the couple have long since deserved formal recognition for their work. Because although Kate mentioned Prince William as her support in her cancer video, the princess could just as easily have been talking about her parents, who are happy that their daughter is getting better soon.
