RKI reports 30,789 new infections

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported 30,789 new infections with the corona virus nationwide within 24 hours. That’s 10,340 fewer cases than Monday a week ago, when 41,129 positive tests were recorded. Overall, the number of confirmed infections in Germany is more than 22.67 million. The nationwide seven-day incidence continues to fall to 1080.0 from 1097.9 the previous day. 13 other people died in connection with the virus. This increases the number of reported deaths since the beginning of the pandemic to 131,728.

As a rule, the number of new infections on weekends and Mondays is lower than the weekly average because fewer tests are carried out on weekends and fewer test results are transmitted.

Showmen are optimistic about the new season

After two years of the compulsory Corona break, the showmen are optimistic about the new season. “There is great joy that it’s finally starting again,” said the President of the German Showmen’s Association (DSB), Albrecht Ritter. “And you can also see very clearly with the visitors: People want to get out and have fun,” said Ritter of the dpa news agency. This was already clearly noticeable at the first events this year, for example at the spring show in Münster, at the Hamburg Spring Cathedral or at the Palmkirmes in Recklinghausen.

After the elimination of most of the corona protection measures, the DSB now expects – if the weather cooperates – a similar number of folk festival visitors as before the pandemic.
