Showmen are demanding state financial aid

In view of the cancellation of many Christmas markets, the German Schaustellerbund has demanded massive state financial aid. Albert Ritter, President of the German Showmen Association, told the dpa news agency: “We really have to get one hundred percent compensation. At least, like last year, we need November and December aid. The economic situation of the showmen was “extremely dramatic,” said Ritter. The federal government must massively improve the aid.

Heil: Compulsory vaccination for clinics and homes before Christmas

The acting Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (SPD) has announced that he intends to implement mandatory vaccinations for clinics and homes before Christmas. Even professional athletes have a “moral obligation to vaccinate,” says Hubertus Heil, according to a preliminary report by “Bild am Sonntag”. “The most important thing is that more people get vaccinated. This also applies to those who earn a lot and are in the limelight, for example professional footballers. There is a moral obligation to vaccinate.”

Heil also advocates a general compulsory vaccination, but a debate about it must be conducted correctly: “Because if the compulsory vaccination is to come, it must be legally secure and practicable.”

Teachers’ unions are calling for more support for schools

The major teachers’ unions in Germany have criticized the fact that most schools still have no air filter systems. Udo Beckmann, Federal Chairman of the Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE) attributed this to complicated funding procedures and the financial weakness of the municipalities. “Although the federal government provided 80 percent of the funding, many municipalities did not have the strength to contribute the missing 20 percent,” he told one of the editorial network in Germany.

Maike Finnern, Chairwoman of the Education and Science Union (GEW) emphasized that there had to be more support for schools. “Many schools are largely left alone in an emergency where they need support more urgently than ever.” More and more schools have to close because of corona outbreaks, in Saxony this already affects about every fourth school. If necessary, you have to bring the Christmas holidays forward.
