Coronavirus in the district – Before swimming, a quick spade – Munich district

A vaccination on the beach, a spade in the upper arm in the shopping center or the immunization against Covid-19 in the trucker parking lot – people in this country were amazed a few weeks ago about such pictures from Israel or the USA. The vaccine was in short supply in the Munich district for a long time, people were upset about people who were preoccupied with vaccinations, and the Planegger grammar school was criticized because doctors there had organized a vaccination campaign for schoolchildren. In the meantime, the vaccine of all manufacturers threatens to become slow-moving, although only 47 percent of the district residents have been fully vaccinated for over twelve years. Now the district is also getting involved in such special promotions.

You want to get faster and easier with vaccinations. Beyond the four vaccination centers, vaccination should take place at sporting events, in restaurants, swimming pools, at adult education centers and universities. This works mainly because District Administrator Christoph Göbel (CSU) can say: “There is enough vaccine available.” According to the district office, 30,000 vaccination doses are currently available for first and second vaccinations. While recently it was time-consuming to make an appointment and submit authorizations for prioritization groups, the vaccination teams are now running after people. “We bring the vaccination to the citizen,” announced the district administrator.

In addition to the lifeguard and swimming instructor, the Johanniter vaccination team waited for the bathers on Saturday and Monday in the Phönix-Bad in Ottobrunn. The bathroom had prominently drawn attention to the eight and a half hour vaccination campaign on its website. Associations have also advertised that those willing to be vaccinated can be immunized here without having to register. The identity card is sufficient, and the place of residence in the district is no longer a requirement. In fact, 70 people accepted the pool offer on the first day and 99 on the second day. “Sometimes even whole families with children have been vaccinated,” reports Gerhard Bieber, spokesman for Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe. Overall, it was a very heterogeneous group of vaccinated people.

Bieber attributes the success of the campaign to the more flexible vaccination offers. Because even those who have already received their first vaccination from the doctor, for example, can now receive syringe number two at the vaccination center or during such campaigns by the mobile vaccination team. The Johanniter even went to the people in the Phönixbad to offer them the vaccination now and here. “We spoke to the bathers at the cash register,” says Bieber. Even if someone did not have their vaccination certificate with them, that was no reason to postpone the immunization again. “Many do not have a vaccination card at all. We always give a vaccination certificate,” said Bieber.

The mobile teams from the vaccination center in Haar have also completed their first campaign beyond facilities such as old people’s and nursing homes. As part of the “Munich 2040” future congress, the Maltese mainly offered young people a vaccination. The teams from Unterschleißheim were out in shopping centers to advise passers-by and to give them the opportunity to book an appointment at the vaccination center.

This is supposed to be the beginning of a series of special campaigns to get the stuttering engine of the vaccination turbo going. Because only a few people are still in the vaccination centers and none of the 3,000 registered people book appointments anymore, the district office has to reach them differently. “The visit to the vaccination center in Haar is currently weak, like everywhere else,” confirms the head of the Malteser Medical Center, Alexander Brandstaeter. Part of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine delivered there will therefore be picked up again.

The Haarer teams will have syringes with them on the weekend in the ice rink at the EHC Munich, the Oberhachingers will vaccinate on Friday at the Hachinger Tisch and the vaccination center in Unterschleißheim will send their employees to the “Gartenlust” fair at Schleißheim Palace from July 23rd to 25th. According to Bieber, a “vaccination drive-in” is planned for Jochen Schweizer in Taufkirchen.
