With the stricter Corona rules, 2G and 2G Plus are increasingly becoming the standard to make shopping, dining out or events possible. With the new version of the Corona warning app, this is now made even easier for organizers.

The numbers have decreased slightly in the last few weeks, but the corona infections in Germany are still at a high level. Stricter measures for the catering and retail trade are intended to put a stop to them: access is only available for vaccinated people, genesis or with a test. The Corona-Warn-App should now make the implementation of the 2G and 3G rules easier – by being able to prove the vaccination status when booking a ticket.

The update to version 2.15 released on Monday now supports this option for the first time, the developers announced in a blog post. According to this, the visitors or guests should already be offered the opportunity to prove their vaccination status or the test result with the help of the Corona warning app during the booking process. The prerequisite for this is that the host supports the validation service available for this purpose.

One less check

The advantage for organizers and guests is obvious: If the guests can indicate and prove that they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, have recovered from it or have tested negative when purchasing concert tickets, and if this data is stored in the ticket, the organizers can request a save an additional check of the vaccination status on the day of the event. Even if only some of the guests make use of this option, the waiting time at the entrance is already reduced.

Technically, the solution is implemented by scanning a QR code with the Corona warning app during the booking process, through which the certificate is then transmitted. Alternatively, a screenshot of the code can also be imported into the app. This is useful, for example, when the booking is made on the smartphone on which the warning app is installed.

Available now – but not for everyone

The new function is immediately available to organizers as soon as the app is published. How quickly it is actually supported is only a question of implementation. For smartphone users, it depends on the operating system how quickly the update to the current version is available to them.

The new version of the iPhone can be downloaded immediately. If you select your own profile in the top right corner of the App Store and pull the screen down, the list of updateable apps will be reloaded. This option is not available in the Play Store for Android smartphones; the update is slowly being rolled out and offered for download. Typically, it should be found within the next 48 hours.
