A nurse has been sentenced to six months probation for raising syringes with common salt instead of a corona vaccine in a vaccination center in Schortens (Friesland district).
That was decided by the district court of Oldenburg on Wednesday. The court saw the action of the nurse as fulfilling the offense of bodily harm. In April 2021, the 40-year-old had syringes with saline solution or diluted the corona vaccine so that it was ineffective. At that time, more than 8,000 people had to be vaccinated again.
Defendants said it was an accident
The public prosecutor accused the woman of bodily harm in 15 cases. The defendants’ lawyer had argued that it could no longer be proven whether the syringes with the saline solution had been used at all. The prepared injections were also administered by other employees of the vaccination center. At the start of the trial, the defendant testified that an ampoule of vaccine had fallen and broken. To cover up the mishap, she raised six ineffective syringes.
