Status: 04/29/2022 05:09 a.m

The Robert Koch Institute reported 101,610 new infections – that’s 60,108 fewer cases than on Friday a week ago. The seven-day incidence fell again and is now 758.5.

The nationwide seven-day incidence of new corona infections has fallen again. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value in the morning as 758.5.

It was 826.0 the day before and 733.4 a week ago. The seven-day incidence quantifies the number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants during this period.

214 deaths reported

As the RKI announced on Friday, citing data from the health authorities, the number of new infections reported within 24 hours was 101,610 – after 130,104 the day before and 161,718 a week ago. The total number of cases of infection recorded in Germany since the beginning of the corona pandemic has thus increased to 24,710,769.

According to the RKI, 214 other deaths related to the corona virus were also registered within 24 hours. The total number of corona deaths recorded in Germany rose to 135,292.

Incomplete picture of infection development

However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the development of the infection, also because the official reporting data depends on the testing behavior of the population. The RKI therefore analyzes other parameters regularly – but not on a daily basis. In their weekly report published on Thursday, the experts assumed, among other things, that the key figures for hospital admissions had continued to decrease.

According to the RKI, trends in the number of cases in the week after Easter can only be evaluated to a limited extent due to the public holidays and vacations. However, the peak of the current wave has clearly been exceeded. Nevertheless, there were still many infections.
