MV: No more current corona numbers at the weekend
The State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LAGuS) in Rostock only publishes a current Corona situation report for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from Monday to Friday. That’s what she writes authority in a statement on its website. The background is the currently manageable situation of the infection process. In addition, the waiver at the weekend provides a certain relief after months of extreme stress on the employees in the health authorities. In addition, the risk-weighted step map is no longer required. The decisions were made in consultation with the Ministry of Health. The next current Corona situation report will be available on Monday around 5 p.m.

Newspaper: Number of child sick pay days more than doubled in 2021
Parents apparently took significantly more child sick pay days last year than in the previous year. This emerges from an analysis by the health insurance company Barmer, which is available to the “Welt am Sonntag”. Overall, the fund approved around 1.3 million child sickness benefit days in 2021, more than twice as many as in the previous year with around 566,000 days. Around 30 percent of the total paydays in 2021 were accounted for by the pandemic-related child sickness benefit. Parents whose children had to be looked after due to school and daycare closures during the Corona crisis could have used this for the first time. However, according to the analysis, there is a clear imbalance in child sickness benefit days in families. In the past year, for example, women claimed child sickness benefit on a total of around 964,000 days (73 percent); for men it was about 351,000 days (27 percent).

Hamburg is no longer a corona “hotspot”.
In Hamburg, the status as a corona “hotspot” decided by the citizenship ends today. As in all other federal states, this means that corona restrictions such as the requirement to wear a mask indoors are no longer applicable. The majority of the population is protected against a serious course of the disease by vaccination or recovery, so that Hamburg is at the transition to a new phase of pandemic containment, the Senate wrote in a press release. While the corona mask is no longer mandatory when shopping in Hamburg from today, the Senate is sticking to the mask requirement in local public transport. The mask requirement also remains in medical facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes. Companies can also impose a mask requirement for employees at least until the end of May.

RKI registers 87,298 new corona infections – incidence falls to 717.4
The nationwide seven-day incidence has continued to fall. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week on Saturday morning as 717.4 (previous day 758.5; previous week: 821.7; previous month: 1,663.0). However, the incidence does not provide a complete picture of the development of the infection, also because the official reporting data depends on the testing behavior of the population. The RKI therefore analyzes other parameters regularly – but not on a daily basis. In their weekly report published on Thursday, the experts assumed, among other things, that the key figures for hospital admissions had continued to decrease. The health authorities in Germany recently reported 87,298 new corona infections to the RKI within one day, as can be seen from today’s figures, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5:02 a.m. (previous week: 135,079 registered infections). The values vary significantly between the individual days of the week, as some federal states do not report to the RKI, especially at weekends. According to the new information, 159 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 234 deaths. This number also fluctuates a lot from day to day, since only a few data are reported to the RKI at the weekend.
