Corona in the Munich city council: Several members tested positive – Munich

Due to a corona outbreak after the general assembly last Thursday, the city canceled the city council meetings for at least this Tuesday. The parliamentary group leaders wanted to discuss how to proceed with the town hall at 2 p.m. On Monday, red messages appeared in the Corona warning apps for numerous city councils. Several members tested positive afterwards. How many participants in the general assembly were infected with the virus was not yet certain on Tuesday morning.

Security level 3 G is required for city council meetings, so participants must be vaccinated, recovered or tested. At the general assembly in the Löwenbräukeller hall last week, strict rules also applied. Tables and chairs were at least five feet apart. During the approximately twelve-hour session, the FFP2 mask was also mandatory at the court. The mask is scented only to be removed for eating and drinking. After each speech, employees of the town hall disinfected the lectern and microphone. The health department had sent an email on Monday at around 1 p.m. with the content that the Corona warning app had turned red for several participants in the general assembly. According to reports, almost all city councils are vaccinated, the quota should be well over 90 percent.

Employees of the Greens had tested positive

Nevertheless, several SPD city councilors tested positive; they had themselves examined immediately after receiving the warning. The faction leader Anne Huebner confirmed, she did not give an exact number. However, there are further suspected cases, and the results of some colleagues are not yet available. The Greens have not yet found a positive case, but the PCR tests are still being evaluated in part, said parliamentary group leader Florian Roth on Tuesday morning. He himself can be tested in the afternoon. In the past few weeks, two employees of the parliamentary group had tested positive for the corona virus. The group takes the position that all committees should take place in December in a hybrid form, said Roth.

There had recently been two corona cases in the CSU. Parliamentary group leader Manuel Pretzl had tested positive last week, and later a parliamentary group employee. The parliamentary group had previously met in attendance for a one-day retreat at the Nockherberg. Pretzl was not present at the general assembly on Thursday. He and the employee are doing well, said parliamentary deputy Hans Theiss on Tuesday. With five or six parliamentary group members, the Corona-Warnapp jumped to red after the general assembly. There have been no other positive cases so far. However, some of the results of the PCR tests are not yet available at the CSU either.

In the parliamentary group Die Linke / Die Party, all members received a red warning, said parliamentary group leader Stefan Jagel. Everyone did a PCR test on Monday. So far there has been no positive case, but not all of them have received their results. The participants of the FDP / Bayernpartei faction had all already done a test, said city councilor Gabriele Neff. All results were negative. The parliamentary group of the ÖDP and Munich list was only represented in the general assembly in small numbers, said parliamentary group leader Tobias Ruff. You have tested yourself, there are no positive tests.
