Corona failure in “Beat the Star”: Frederick Lau falls out for a duel against Max Kruse
Frederick Lau is out of “Beat the Star” due to a corona infection.
TV star versus Bundesliga star – many viewers were looking forward to this duel on “Schlag den Star” on Saturday evening. But nothing comes of it: Frederick Lau has to cancel his duel with Max Kruse.
“Without words” – actor Frederick Lau comments in two words on the result of his corona test in his Instagram story. “Positive” is on the note, the 32-year-old is suffering from Corona and is unable to play the duel on “Schlag den Star” on ProSieben on Saturday evening. The broadcaster also confirmed Frederick Lau’s end late Friday evening, but announced that the show would still take place from 8:15 p.m. – a replacement has already been found. “We still promise a strong duel tomorrow – and look forward to Freddy Lau in one of the next issues,” said a statement on Twitter. However, it is not known who will succeed Laus. Lau was originally supposed to play against professional soccer player and former national player Max Kruse.
“Beat the Star”: Frederick Lau not the first failure
It’s not the first failure in the celebrity duel at ProSieben. In March 2020, Cathy Hummels was also infected with Corona and canceled her participation. Singer Jasmin Wagner aka “Blümchen” took her place in the duel against Dagi Bee. Hummels made up for her performance in November 2020, where she competed and lost against pop singer Stefanie Hertel.
It is still unclear when Lau will appear on the show again. Many fans had eagerly awaited the duel between Lau and Kruse, as it is also a symbolic duel between West and East Berlin. Kruse has been playing very successfully for Union Berlin since the summer of 2020 – the Bundesliga club from the Köpenick district in south-east Berlin. Lau, on the other hand, was born in West Berlin shortly before the Wall came down and grew up in Steglitz.
