Historic “Børsen” facade in Copenhagen collapsed after major fire

In the great fire at the historic stock exchange in Copenhagen, supporting structures were damaged – now the facade has collapsed.

After the devastating fire in the old stock exchange Copenhagen, the facade of the historic building collapsed. “Unfortunately, the facade along the Frederiksholms Canal has collapsed,” said the emergency services on the online service X on Thursday. No one was injured and all workers were brought to safety.

The fire in one of the Danish capital’s landmarks broke out under the copper roof on Tuesday and spread downwards from the roof. For hours, huge flames shot into the sky and thick black smoke rose. In front of the eyes of horrified passers-by, the striking tower of the 54-meter-high structure from the 17th century collapsed onto the street.

Copenhagen landmark burned down

About half of the red brick building burned down. Several hundred of the numerous works of art in the former stock exchange were able to be brought to safety from the flames.
