A 71-year-old man was taken into custody at the Montpellier central police station. Monday evening, he called for help explaining that his 76-year-old sister had just committed suicide. When help arrived, she was dead, the victim of a point-blank shot.
To the Hérault police, he then explained that he himself had brought a loaded 22 long rifle to his sister. Suffering from Alzheimer’s, she explained to him that she intended to end her life. “I wanted to prove that she was bluffing,” the septuagenarian explained to investigators.
The prosecution opened a homicide investigation. In particular, samples were taken from the hands of the brother and sister in order to determine which of the two pulled the trigger.
