An apparently mentally confused 31-year-old stole an ambulance and patient on Tuesday afternoon in downtown Aschaffenburg. The vehicle was found again a short time later in the city area, and the man was then admitted to the district hospital, the police said on Wednesday.
The mentally stressed man is said to have hijacked the unlocked ambulance with an 86-year-old woman at the Hasenkopf Clinic. He is said to have parked the vehicle in the city and tried to deliver the 86-year-old patient to the Rosensee Clinic. The woman was taken home safely after the man was arrested. The 31-year-old now has to answer, among other things, on suspicion of deprivation of liberty, theft of the ambulance and drunk driving, it said.
