Commentary on World Athletics Championships: A praise for fifth place – Sport

Christopher Linke joked before the race: the boss has to fix it. The medal haul of the German Athletics Association (DLV) was still bare before the sixth day of competition at the World Championships in Budapest, so Linke, the team captain, also tried the 35-kilometer walk, after fifth place and a German record over 20 kilometers. It was then, at least as impressive, fifth place again, again with a German record (2:25:35 hours). It is not known whether the boss at Heldenplatz, around whom the walkers had circled, later also stepped in as a temporary worker at the Museum of Fine Arts or as a traffic policeman. You would have credited him with it.
