At this point a little thought experiment: What line-up could a coach send FC Bayern onto the pitch in Dortmund on Saturday if the players Leon Goretzka, Noussair Mazraoui and Dayot Upamecano are not yet fit for action? On the right in the back four, perhaps Konrad Lai could… although, no, Laimer would have to play on the six because Joshua Kimmich is suspended and Goretzka… see above… and there is no other six left in the squad. And de Ligt’s loss probably means that Kim Min-jae would have to fill two central defender roles at the same time, because otherwise there would be no central defender left – unless the coach came up with the idea of putting Sven Ulreich back in goal and Manuel Neuer in defense place.
