Comedy tour for more tolerance in Bavarian schools – Bavaria

The comedy program “Homology with Malte Anders” is touring through Bavaria’s schools starting this school year and focusing on the topic of “being different”. The Ministry of Social Affairs made 100 performances available, said the house of Minister Ulrike Scharf (CSU) on Wednesday. As the likeable substitute teacher “Malte Anders”, the cabaret artist and drama teacher Timo Schweitzer is supposed to give pupils from the 8th grade a humorous insight into the topic of homosexuality and the normality of being different. With humor and personal stories in his 90-minute comedy show, he conveys background knowledge about sexual diversity, tolerance, discrimination and bullying to young people. He will then answer questions from the audience.

Everyone in the Free State should be able to lead a self-determined, non-discriminatory and non-violent life, said Minister of Social Affairs Scharf about the offer. “Exclusion and devaluation based on sexual orientation or identity have no place with us.” Minister of Education Michael Piazolo (Free Voters) also welcomed the theater offer, because tolerance, cultural diversity and gender are topics that are important for young people in the process of finding their identity. Therefore, these topics must also be taken up in the classroom and treated at eye level.
