Climate protests cause delays in DTM races at the Norisring – Bavaria

Protests by climate activists have led to delays in the DTM race at the Norisring in Nuremberg. A race start was delayed on Sunday afternoon after members of Extinction Rebellion Racing and Last Generation trespassed onto the track. According to a police spokesman, 13 people were involved in the action, but it was initially unclear how many made it onto the track.

An activist also fixed himself to a fence, but was quickly removed again. The spokesman spoke of a very short disruption, the race could then be carried out as planned. Apparently no one tried to stick to the road.

In a statement from Last Generation, activists said they spilled oil on the pavement. Others had placards with them and were removed from the road by several people. The activists “call on the federal government to stop racing towards a climate catastrophe,” the statement said.
