Climate protection in Munich: Helmut Paschlau fights for the heat transition – Munich

Climate protection does not have the necessary priority in the town hall, says Helmut Paschlau. He used to be the head of a waste management company and was responsible for the northern thermal power plant. In retirement, he is now fighting for the heat transition – at the kitchen table and in the boiler room.

He’s not sticky, but he speaks about the climate crisis with as much urgency and demand as the activists in the high-visibility vests do. Helmut Paschlau says he understands the desperation of the “last generation,” and no, he doesn’t find the sticking actions radical. For him, it is radical that many of those responsible in politics and business are involved in environmental destruction or have allowed it to happen. Paschlau, on the other hand, is campaigning from his desk, and as a senior activist he probably has more influence on the town hall than a street blocker. Nevertheless, he feels connected to the “Last Generation”: “We’re both annoying, but in a different way.”
