Clear out the car after the holiday – Auto & Mobil

Unnecessary loads in the car eat up fuel unnecessarily. Drivers should therefore empty their car as quickly as possible after the holiday trip and free it from unnecessary ballast. According to TÜV Süd, a superfluous load of 100 kilograms increases fuel consumption by around 0.4 liters per 100 kilometers. The experts advise that roof boxes and bicycle racks should also be removed quickly. In addition, if you increased the tire pressure for the trip because of the increased load, you should now adjust it again to the normal load. How high the tire pressure should be for this is stated either in the logbook or in appropriate places on the car (e.g. on the B-pillar on the driver’s side or on the inside of the tank cap). According to the TÜV, anyone who adjusts the headlight range manually should also adjust it again to the normal load so that the headlights are not too low at night and you can see far enough.
