Claudia Roth wants the audience at the Bayreuth Festival to have more diverse culture

Anyone who visits the large and medium-sized opera houses in Europe, whether in Hamburg or Madrid, Munich or Brussels, Vienna or London, Salzburg or Bayreuth, regularly notices that, in contrast to musicians, singers and directing concepts, the audience is recruited from a very homogeneous layer, which also differs significantly from the people in the streets of the respective cities. The audiences in the opera houses are visibly older, they are white, they are wealthy. Of course, this is primarily for historical reasons.
