Claude Alphandéry, illustrious resistance fighter and committed economist, is dead

He celebrated his 101st birthday on November 29. Claude Alphandéry, recognized resistance fighter of the Second World War and great man of the social and solidarity economy, died “peacefully”, we learned on Tuesday from reliable sources.

“Mr. Alphandéry passed away peacefully yesterday evening, surrounded by his family,” he told AFP. France Active, an association to help create committed businesses that he created. Peaceful appeals before dying out

A member of the Communist Party and then the Socialist Party, Claude Alphandéry also became known for having chaired the Construction and Public Works Bank for nearly twenty years. He also served as an economic advisor to the UN.

At the start of the year, he signed with Edgar Morin a call for peace in response to the Ukrainian and Israeli-Palestinian conflicts. A few weeks later, while hospitalized, he wrote an article in The New Obs in which he asked the population to “ make a commitment to do everythingwherever you are with the means at your disposal, to prevent a new dark night for humanity.”
