Classic craftsmanship is dying out? Visiting a young butcher – Bavaria

There are more and more students, but the number of new journeymen is falling. But there are still young people who choose classic crafts. Visiting two of them who don’t think their jobs are “old” at all.

Butchering, boning, sausage making. This is how things have been going for the fourth generation at the Kramer country butchery in Bichl, Upper Bavaria. Tradition like a book. The business currently belongs to Rudolf III, but the IV is already working in the family business. Last July, 18-year-old Rudolf Kramer completed his apprenticeship. He won the German Craft Championships (DMH) as the best journeyman butcher in Germany and has even been a champion since April.
