War reporters operate from a privileged position. They are almost always better equipped and better cared for than those they report on. They wear protective vests and helmets and have water and gasoline. But their biggest advantage is that they can leave at any time. It is not their country that is burning. It’s not their neighbors who are attacking each other. It is not their state that is falling apart.
