City plans unpacked weekly market in Arnulfpark in Neuhausen – Munich

Shopping without packaging waste: The Markthallen München (MHM) are planning to open a new unpackaged weekly market in Neuhauser Arnulfpark in April 2023. The weekly market should be completely free of disposable packaging. The retailers offer their products unpackaged or in reusable packaging. If you want, you can alternatively have your own packaging filled. The pilot project is part of Munich’s zero-waste concept. The aim is to raise awareness among citizens and to change shopping behavior.

However, traders are still being sought for this weekly market. Vendors of unpackaged goods, meat and meat products, bread and baked goods, fruit and vegetables, eggs, poultry and poultry products, snack bars, Mediterranean delicatessen, cheese and cheese products as well as fish and fish products can apply immediately (stadt.muenchen .de/infos/standplaetze-auf-packungsfreim-markt.html). Municipal consultant Kristina Frank, first plant manager of the Munich market halls: “We don’t want to do without anything at our new weekly market – except for disposable packaging. Because if you go shopping at Arnulfpark, it’s best to bring your vegetable bags, bags and boxes with you.”
