Citizens’ hotline for G-7 summit is activated – Bavaria

Four months before the G-7 summit at the end of June at Schloss Elmau near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the police activated a citizens’ hotline. Citizens, associations, organizations and tradespeople should be able to contact the police at an early stage to clarify questions, discuss concerns and receive first-hand information, the planning staff said on Monday in Munich. Together with authorities, institutions and local people, the police will do everything to ensure that the meeting and possible demonstrations run safely. The disturbances for the population and tourists in the region should remain as low as possible.

The G-7 summit chaired by Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is scheduled for June 26-28. In 2015, heads of state and government from seven leading industrial nations met at Schloss Elmau. The mood among the locals is divided. Hoteliers and other landlords of guest beds report excellent booking figures at the summit time. Many residents, especially in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, are not very enthusiastic; they face restrictions. Traders fear a loss of sales.
